Some weddings are full of sunshine, and others come with a little bit of rain—but honestly? That moody Oregon sky only made this day more magical. This celestial-themed wedding at a family ranch in The Dalles, Oregon had it all: heartfelt vows, misty skies, and starry touches that lit up the whole celebration. As a wedding photographer in Oregon, I’ve learned to embrace whatever the weather brings—and this wedding reminded me just how beautiful an overcast day can be.

A Celestial Wedding in The woods

The couple tied the knot on their family’s ranch just outside of The Dalles, and even with the clouds overhead, the setting was stunning. The surrounding hills faded into soft gray clouds, and light rain came and went throughout the day. Luckily, everyone was all in—umbrellas came out, jackets were shared, and the vibe stayed joyful and warm.


The mix of moody skies and soft light actually made for some incredible photos. Cloudy weather is a wedding photographer’s secret weapon—it makes skin tones glow and adds drama to the backdrop. The Dalles is always beautiful, but this day had an extra layer of cozy magic.

The Reception


An elegant combination of woodsy beauty and celestial mystery, the reception surrounded guests in warm, glowy light and stunning decor. Guest seating surrounded the dance floor, putting the bride and groom in the spotlight for the evening festivities. From the hilarious shoe game to the first dance, this reception was all things fun and beautiful.
